DUBLIN, Ohio – The Muirfield Village Garden Club has successfully completed the renovation of the historic Blue Star Memorial at Dublin Cemetery, thanks in part to a grant from the Dublin Community Foundation (DCF). The restoration project helps preserve an important landmark that honors members of the U.S. Armed Forces, past and present.

The Dublin Community Foundation awarded the grant to the Muirfield Village Garden Club to support the project, and the funds helped bring certified Blue Star Memorial restoration specialist Tom Stelling to Dublin to complete the restoration work.

“The support from the Dublin Community Foundation enabled us to hire a qualified expert and ensure this important memorial received the attention it deserved,” said Mary Jo Fresch for the Muirfield Village Garden Club. “The Blue Star Memorial is a meaningful tribute to our military service members and an important stop on Dublin’s historic cemetery tours.”

The Blue Star Memorial serves as a lasting symbol of gratitude to U.S. veterans and active-duty military personnel. The Muirfield Village Garden Club also maintains the surrounding gardens, helping preserve the memorial as a place of reflection and remembrance for residents and visitors alike.

The restoration was completed by Tom Stelling, a certified Blue Star Memorial renovator based in Daytona Beach, Florida. Through collaboration with another local garden club undertaking a similar restoration project, travel costs were shared, helping maximize the impact of the grant funding. [

The renovated memorial has significantly enhanced the appearance of the site and strengthened its role in honoring military service.  As The Muirfield Village Garden Club emphasized: “We honor our military, past and present, with this historic marker.”

The Dublin Community Foundation was honored to work with the Muirfield Village Garden Club to raise awareness of the Blue Star Memorial and its significance to the Dublin community.
