Emerald Celebration
Honoring the City of Dublin
The Emerald Celebration gala on Sat., Feb. 27th, kicked off the year-long series of events in honor of Dublin’s bicentennial. The city itself was the 2010 Emerald honoree. The Celebration, known for the past 27 years as the Emerald Ball, was redesigned and renamed for 2010 to showcase Dublin’s past and to highlight the present and the future of this once small rural village. The entertainment and décor emphasized Dublin’s dynamic history.
The evening’s activities at the Marriott Northwest, started with a social hour from 6:30 – 7:30 pm, followed by dinner at 7:45pm. There was a short theatrical production highlighting significant events from the city’s history told by Skelley the Leprechaun. Dancing, an appearance by the Dublin Cornet Band, and a marketplace that showcased items from area businesses added to the festivities.
